Truth, Thor Style

If you’ve ever read any of the older Thor comics (think 50s) you’ve probably heard him say this word, “Verily” when he wants convey that he agrees with you or is speaking truthfully.  In modern day America, it would be translated as, “For real.” (You can add man at the end too if you want)
I’ve known this for a while.  But I am taking Latin as my foreign language this year and learned that “Vēritās” is the Latin word meaning truth!  It was so cool!  Now of course Latin pronunciation has it pronounced as wear-ih-tas, (v is pronounced as w) but we’ll overlook that. 🙂  So now you know where Thor got his Asgardian jargon.  Latin!

This concludes your Latin (and comic book character) fact of the day!

An Announcement & Daily(ish) Thankfulness List #5

Dear Readers,

I will be leaving for Ohio (well, Georgia first, then Ohio) tomorrow morning, so I will have lots of pictures to share with you all once I get back!  I know I still have to share my pictures from St. Marks, but that just means you have a lot to look forward to. 🙂  Anyhow, here’s my thankfulness list.

  1. That I found my 16G USB Drive.  I hadn’t seen it in a couple months so I was a little worried that I had lost it for good, but I did find it yesterday!!  Now I’ll have a place to put all my pictures from this trip!
  2. I’m getting a camcorder!  I was discussing the name with one of my family members and we realized that it probably is a mashup of Camera and Recorder! Cool, right?  My parents are paying for most of it, but I’m chipping in $20 and paying the $10 for the 16G SD Card.  So I’m really excited!  We’re getting it later today!
  3. May.  Goodness gracious I love our cat!  I was the first one up this morning and she followed me everywhere, inspected the fridge while I got breakfast, (cold pizza from dinner last night!) and bodyslammed me twice!  I’m used to her attacking my feet, but she just slammed against me like a football player!  It was a little startling, but also hilarious.  And she looked up at me like it was the most normal thing in the world! Hahaha.
  4. Our church family.  We played basketball last night with 3 families from our church, and it was super fun.  There were about 25 kids there (including the five of us), but many were small children and babies who didn’t play.  The dads played while the moms watched, and we all had a grand time.  😀  Shoutout to my sometimes teammate Emily (Molasses) who played wonderfully!  🙂

I think that that’s all for now.

No “E”s Allowed!

I received a writing challenge/nomination from fellow blogger Mitch Teemly ( ) which might be a little challenging, but I’ll give it a try.

Here are the rules:
1. Write a whole paragraph without any words containing the letter “e”.
2. By reading this, you have already signed up.
3. Challenge at least five bloggers to do this. They must do it within 24 hours or it is considered as failure.
4. If you fail or pass, suffer in the Page of Lame.
5. If you win, wallow in the Page of Fame.

This should be fun!  Here goes…

This is a story about a mouthy kid who walks into a fairyland, but nobody is around.  Kid says, “… …” For a strong hand clasps his mouth shut.
“Say anything, and a darling kookaburra burns to dust.”
“Anything!” With a sly grin.
“Alright, I’ll kill him.”
“What?  No!  Wait, who is your boss?  I can bargain for this thing’s acquittal!”
“How can a kid know that word?”
“You wouldn’t know, but I am a “smart kid on campus”, two months running.”
“But Mr. Smart Guy, how you gonna win again if you stay in my boss’s prison for 10 months?  Mwahahahahaha!”  And with that, a blindfold blocks his vision and light starts to vanish, and his socks touch wood of a cart, that rolls away towards a scary-looking mansion, Kid is curious about bunking situations in prison.

Well, that turned out to be a bit depressing, and didn’t really have much of a plot, but I did it without mentioning “E”!  I want to thank for giving me lots of synonyms, helpful and not so much.
Now for the nominations. Drumroll please… *ratatatatatat*
